When WineWenchLV asked me if I was interested in BJs around lunchtime, I was immediately interested.
Come to find out that she’s talking about BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse located at SILVERADO CENTER, 9520 S Eastern Avenue in Henderson Nevada. Since we were talking about food and beer, I was partially mollified, and willing to go.
On arriving, we were seated quickly, and upon receiving our menus, I was pleased to discover that in addition to their own private brews, they had expanded their drink menu to include a larger selection of draft and bottled beers, including Boddington’s on tap, and Chimay and La Fin Du Monde in bottles. I started out by ordering a four glass sampler of their new IPA, Jeremiah’s Red, P.M. Porter, and Tatanka Stout, along with an order of Sweet Onion Strings. The IPA’s hoppiness and fruity middle nicely balanced the onion strings spicy chipotle pepper dipping sauce. The Red was my favorite though, followed closely by the Porter. The Stout, while good, was pretty viscous, and had a very chocholaty finish that probably would have worked better with darker grilled meat or dessert.
For my main course I ordered the New Orleans Jambalaya, along with a Boddington’s. The Jambalaya was very good, spicy and on a bed of well-seasoned rice pilaf that was cooked just right, firm to the bite and not at all mushy. WineWenchLV ordered the Santa Fe Salad, and was also very pleased with it.
Overall a very pleasant lunch, good beer, and a good time with WineWenchLV.
Now, about that other thing…
