Firefly Tapas Kitchen and Bar

Winewench and I have been meaning to try Firefly Tapas Kitchen and Bar for some time now, so when Happy Hour Time rolled around this week we decided to give it a whirl. Firefly now has two locations, but we stopped by the original located at 3900 Paradise Road in Las Vegas. This turned out to be a better choice, as the tapas menu is more complete than the downtown location.

The bar is small and cozy, and at 3pm on a Friday was deserted. Asking about Happy Hour specials, we were informed that all alcoholic beverages are half-price, and there is a free sample tasting of a few of their tapas selections. After sampling their Sangrias, we opted for a glass of red and a glass of white sangria, figuring that we could then match the sangria with whatever tapas we decided to order.

The free sampling included a Tortilla a la española, an Albondigas, and a Stuffed date. While the Tortilla a la española and Albondigas were good, the Stuffed date stood out so much that we ordered a full serving to share.

We also tried the Ceviche of shrimp, Roasted eggplant cannelloni, Sausage Plate and Terra y Mare skewers. All were good, but nothing stood out like the Stuffed Dates which were our hands-down favorite.

Firefly also has a decent selection of Spanish wines both by the bottle and by the glass, and during happy hour the by-the-glass prices are pretty good.

Overall, it’s worth a return trip.
